Dysorexia and anorexia are common symptoms observed in all ages for a variety of reasons and do not require the person to be referred to a physician in many cases. “If the causes of anorexia are very strong, the appetite is generally destroyed and there is no desire for food and if these causes are weak, they only result in decreased appetite,” says Arzani, a well-known practitioner of traditional medicine. From the perspective of traditional medicine, anorexia consists of two types:
1) Dominance of moisture: Symptoms of moisture dominance are drooling, white tongue and hypersalivation, whichare treated with the use of herbs or products with hot and dry temperaments such as an Moshahi Booali Daroo capsule.
2) Bile humor and heat dominance: Symptoms of bile humor and heat dominance are redness and dryness of the tongue, which can be treated by using herbs or products with cold and wet temperaments such as pomegranate contained in the Fudanaj Booali Daroo syrup.

Previous scientific studies on mentha longifolia have shown that this herb has the following therapeutic effects: It increases the antibacterial activity of drugs, has antimicrobial effects and inhibits free radicals, anti-fungal, anti-parasitic and anti-nausea properties. Results of a study on hydroalcoholic extract of mentha longifolia’s leaves showed that it has muscle relaxant effect on the intestinal ileum by inhibiting voltage-dependent calcium channels. This study confirms some of the therapeutic effects of this herb, such as relieving muscle cramps, diarrhea and colic mentioned in traditional medicine.
