Moord Booali Daroo Syrup®

Ingredients:

Myrtus Communis, Red sugar

Dosage:

Children with the ages of 2 to 6 years old: One teaspoon three times a day (2.5 ml each time)
Children aged between 6-12 years old: One dessertspoon three times a day (5ml each time)
Adults: One tablespoon three times a day (10ml each time)
It is advisable to take it within 1-hour interval after meals.

Indications:

Treatment of coughing & lung infection, cessation of bleeding, diarrhea, different types of hemorrhoids and strengthening the stomach and intestines.

Storage conditions:

Keep the product away from light and protect it from freezing at temperatures below 20°C.

Recommended Precautions:

Long-term usage may cause gastrointestinal side effects such as nausea and vomiting.
It must not be used in patients who have allergy to any of the ingredients, during pregnancy and breastfeeding, kidney failure and in children under two years of age.
There is no identified drug interaction for this medicine. Consult with your physician or pharmacist before taking any drug.
Caution must be exercised in diabetic patients due to having sugar. Patients with seizures should take the medication after consultation with a physician. Avoid consumption of the product above the recommended dosage. This product is also useful for intestinal ulcers and infections due to its astringent and anti-bleeding effects.

Cough is one of the most important upper airway defense mechanisms, and it is one of the most common symptoms in pulmonary diseases, the most common problem and symptom facing physicians, and require patients to seek medical attention and care, especially those with the chronic cough (more than 8 weeks). The prevalence of chronic cough in the society has been reported to be in the range of 3-40%. Common anti-cough medicines include codeine and dextromethorphan, which have side effects such as sedation, nausea, and constipation . The Moord syrup (Booali Daroo Pharmaceutical Co.) contains Moord extract, for which various therapeutic effects have been cited in traditional medicine books and sources such as treatment of internal diseases, hemorrhoids, respiratory diseases, cold, bacterial infections, and diarrhea. It also has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties . The moord contains fiber, antioxidants, and biologically active compounds. The main phytochemical constituents include phenolic substances, including flavonoids and anthocyanins, as well as oleic acid, linoleic acid, myristic acid, palmitic acid, and a variety of vitamins . Myrtucommulone found in the moord herb, is considered to be effective in treating inflammations and allergic diseases . Results of a study on the effect of essential oil of the moord leaf on the bacterium causing tuberculosis, showed that the essential oil of this herb has anti-mycobacterium tuberculosis activity. Many studies have been carried out on the antibacterial effects of the moord herb; for example, a study compared the antimicrobial effects of the essential oils of moord, thyme, and eucalyptus on moraxella catarrhalis (causative agent of respiratory infections), streptococcus pneumoniae (the causative agent of pneumonia), and haemophilus influenza (the causative agent of influenza). The results showed that the moord essential oil has the best effect on inhibition of moraxella catarrhalis. A clinical study compared the effect of pomegranate, ginger, and moord on reduction of bleeding in monthly menstruation. The results showed that these herbs had a good effect on reducing menstruation compared to placebo . In an animal study, the anti-diarrhea effect of the moord extract was investigated. In this study, 30 rats were divided into 5 groups. Then, they were treated with the moord extract along with different concentrations of methanol, chloroform solvents, and aqueous extract of moord at different doses with 10 mg / kg distilled water as negative control, and 3 mg / kg loperamide as positive control. The frequency of fecal excretion, and incidence of diarrhea and fecal weights were determined. The results showed that methanolic extract of moord (400 mg / kg), its aqueous extract (800 mg / kg), and its chloroform extract (400 mg / kg) significantly delayed the onset of diarrhea in rats. Also, methanolic and chloroform extracts (300 and 400 mg / kg) significantly reduced the weight and volume of intestinal contents. Considering the high prevalence and resistance of bacterial vaginosis to chemical drugs, a clinical trial was conducted to compare the effect of metronidazole gel, alone and in combination with 2% of the moord herb. In this study, 80 female patients were divided into two groups, and were then treated for 5 consecutive nights. The therapeutic effects were evaluated after one week. The results of the study showed that metronidazole gel combined with 2% moord herb was more efficient, and using this supplement the efficiency of metronidazole gel increased . To evaluate the antibacterial activity of diarrheal pathogens, leaf, stem, and flower of the moord herb were prepared in water, ethanol, methanol, and hexane solutions and investigated on diarrheal pathogens, respectively. The results showed that the leaf methanolic
extract had the highest antibacterial potential compared to other extracts.
